Privacy Policy

This site is owned and operated by Eden Industries, LLC d/b/a Ecobrownstone™. Your privacy on the Internet is of the utmost importance to us. At Ecobrownstone™, we want to make your experience online satisfying and safe.

Because we gather certain types of information about our users, we feel you should fully understand our policy and the terms and conditions surrounding the capture and use of that information. This privacy statement discloses what information we gather and how we use it.

A. Ecobrownstone™ gathers two types of information about users:

1. Voluntary submissions -- Information that users provide through optional, voluntary submissions. These are voluntary submissions sent to us by email or postings, to participate in our message boards or forums, to email a friend, and from participation in polls and surveys. These submissions may include your name, e-mail address and other contact information that could reasonably be used to identify you personally (“PII”). We may collect this information at various places and forms on the Web Site, including when you register for e-mail communications or when you submit a question or request to the Web Site or post a comment in a forum or blog. We may also collect certain demographic information (such as gender, age or ethnicity) and information about your interests and preferences (collectively, “Demographic Information”).
We retain and use your PII and Demographic Information in order to: (i) send you e-mail communications that you have agreed to receive; (ii) respond to your questions or other requests; (iii) contact you with regard to your use of the Web Site or changes to the Web Site’s Privacy Policy, Terms of Use or other Web Site policies; or (iv) for other purposes disclosed at the time you provide your information. We may also use the information you provide to improve the Web Site and its content, features and services; customize your experience on the Web Site; or for other internal business purposes.
Please note that information submitted to the Web Site via a “contact us” or other similar mechanism will not necessarily receive a response.

2. Automatic Tracking Information – Ecobrownstone™ uses Google Ads to place ads, and Google Analytics to analyze the Web Site and its use patterns in order to place ads that are targeted to our users. Google Analytics gathers information through aggregated tracking information derived mainly by tallying page views throughout our sites. This information allows Google Ads to better understand the demographics of our audience. Because Ecobrownstone™ derives revenue from sponsorships and advertising, providing such aggregated demographic data is essential to keeping our service free to users. Under no circumstances does Ecobrownstone™ divulge any information about an individual user to a third party.
When you visit this Web Site, our servers automatically collect certain web site usage information. Web site usage information is non-personally identifiable information about how our visitors use and navigate the Web Site, including the number and frequency of visitors to each web page, the length of their stays, the type of browser each visitor is using (for example, Internet Explorer, Firefox), the type of operating system each visitor is using, (for example, Windows XP or Mac OS), the domain name of each visitor’s Internet service provider (for example, America Online, Earthlink).

B. Forum information
Users of the site's Forum must register separately for these services (free of charge) in order to post messages, although they needn't register to visit the site. During registration the user is required to supply a username, password, and email address.

C. "E-mail this to a friend" policy
Our site users can choose to electronically forward a link, page, or documents to someone else by clicking "e-mail this to a friend". The user must provide their email address, as well as that of the recipient. This information is used only in the case of transmission errors and, of course, to let the recipient know who sent the email. The information is not used for any other purpose.

D. Polling
We may offer interactive polls to users so they can easily share their opinions with other users and see what our audience thinks about important issues. Opinions or other responses to polls are aggregated and are not identifiable to any particular user. Ecobrownstone™ may use a system to "tag" users after they have voted, so they can vote only once on a particular question. This tag is not correlated with information about individual users.

E. Surveys
Ecobrownstone™ may occasionally conduct user surveys to better target our content to our audience. We sometimes share the aggregated demographic information in these surveys with our sponsors, advertisers and partners. We never share any of this information about specific individuals with any third party.

F. Children
The Web Site is a general audience web site. Consistent with the Federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), we will never knowingly request personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13 without requesting parental consent, and we will delete any information later determined to be from a user younger than thirteen (13).

II. Cookies

To enhance your experience with our site, we may use "cookies." Cookies are small data files we place in your computer's browser when you visit the Web Site. Cookies automatically identify your web browser to the Web Site whenever you visit the Web Site, and may make navigating and using the Web Site easier for you. The cookie itself does not contain Personal Information although it will enable us to relate your use of this site to information that you have specifically and knowingly provided. But the only personal information a cookie can contain is information you supply yourself. A cookie can't read data off your hard disk or read cookie files created by other sites. Also, by tracking how and when you use the Web Site, cookies help us determine which areas are popular and which are not. Additionally, accepting cookies may allow you to, among other things, personalize your experience on the Web Site. If you do not wish to allow for use of cookies, you can generally opt-out of providing this information by setting your browser to reject cookies. However, please be aware that some areas of the Web Site may not provide you with an acceptable user experience if you have disabled the use of cookies.

Ecobrownstone™ uses any information voluntarily given by our users to enhance their experience in our network of sites, whether to provide interactive or personalized elements on the sites or to better prepare future content based on the interests of our users.

Ecobrownstone™ does not share your PII with third parties for those third parties’ marketing purposes. Ecobrownstone™ may share non-personally identifiable information, such as aggregated user statistics, with third parties. In addition, Ecobrownstone™ may share your PII as set forth in this Privacy Policy or in the following limited circumstances:

1. Third parties providing services on our behalf
We may employ other companies and individuals to perform functions on our behalf. Examples include, without limitation, sending communications on our behalf, analyzing data, providing marketing assistance, creating, hosting and/or providing customer service. These third parties may have access to our users' PII in order to provide these services to us or on our behalf.

2. Legal Protections and Law Enforcement
We may disclose information about our users, including PII, when legally required to do so, at the request of governmental authorities conducting an audit or investigation, or to verify or enforce compliance with the policies governing this Web Site and applicable laws, rules, and regulations. We may use IP addresses to identify users in cooperation with internet service providers or law enforcement agencies, and may also disclose user information whenever we believe disclosure is necessary to limit our legal liability or to protect or enforce the rights, interests or safety of this Web Site, our users or others.

3. Corporate Change
We may sell, transfer or otherwise disclose user information, including PII, in connection with a corporate merger, consolidation, the sale of substantially all assets or of a business group, or other corporate change.
When we use tracking information to determine which areas of our sites users like and don't like based on traffic to those areas. We do not track what individual users read, but rather how well each page performs overall. This helps us continue to build a better service for you. We track search terms entered in Search function as one of many measures of what interests our users. But we don't track which terms a particular user enters.

Ecobrownstone™ creates aggregate reports on user demographics and traffic patterns for advertisers, sponsors and partners. This allows our advertisers to advertise more effectively, and allows our users to receive advertisements that are pertinent to their needs. Because we don't track the usage patterns of individual users, an advertiser or sponsor will never know that a specific user clicked their ad.

You may cancel or modify your e-mail subscriptions or RSS feeds through the Web Site or by following the instructions contained within an e-mail you receive from the Web Site.

Ecobrownstone™ operates secure data networks protected by industry standard firewall and password protection systems. Our security and privacy policies are periodically reviewed and enhanced as necessary and only authorized individuals have access to the information provided by our customers. Nevertheless, while Ecobrownstone™ strives to secure your personal information, even reasonable security measures do not guarantee the security of any information you transmit via the internet, including to Ecobrownstone™. Ecobrownstone™ cannot guarantee that information it seeks to protect will be protected under all circumstances, including those beyond its reasonable control. You agree that you transmit information to Ecobrownstone™ via the Web Site at your own risk.

When you are on the Web Site, certain content may be served by a third party. These third parties may also drop their own cookies and/or use web beacons, which may be used to identify some of your preferences or to recognize you if you have previously had contact with those third parties. We do not control the use of such technology by third parties, the information they collect, or how they use such information.

If you are located in the European Union, Canada or elsewhere outside of the United States, please be aware that any information you provide to us will be transferred to the United States. By using the Web Site or providing us with your information, you consent to this transfer.

By using this Web Site, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. Ecobrownstone™ may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make any substantial changes in the types of PII we collect or how we use it, we will inform you of such changes by posting a revised notice at our Web Site. Of course, unless you consent otherwise, we will use your PII consistent with the Privacy Policy in effect at the time you submitted your PII.
